~*~WhiskerStar Leader Of RiverClan~*~
The day had only just begun as the morning dew still hind heavy on the leaves. Yet this was prime time for a new apprentice to begin its training. WhiskerStar emerged from his den with sleep still hanging in his eyes. However, as the early morning rays of sun dances across his face determination blossomed within his eyes. He was going to make sure SwanPaw was a warrior in no time. Not just that, he was going to make sure she was one of the best warriors in the clan. After a quick stretch WhiskerStar leaped from the mouth of his den and padded over to the apprentice den. He dipped his head as he entered the very cramped den, well in comparison to his own. SwanPaw would be the first apprentice he has had since become leader and he owed it to her to be the best mentor possible, since he was leader after. He carefully made his way over to his apprentice's next then prodded her with his sheathed paw hard on the head. " Wake up SwanPaw, training starts now. Meet me just outside of camp." With that he turned and vanished out of the den and of the camp. OOC- sorry it's a little short I am using my phone xD

Dreams of chasing butterflies were abruptly stopped by a large paw nudging her head. "Mm.. It's not even sun-up yet," Swanpaw groaned before pushing herself up off the ground. She stretched, and looked over at where Whiskerstar waited for her. Mousedung, I almost forgot!
Swanpaw gave herself a quick cleaning, wanting to look presentable for her leader, before padding over to the large tom. She looked up at him, admiration in her pale eyes and purred. "What are we going to do today? Are you going to show me the territory? Or am I going to learn how to hunt?" she got down in a hunting crouch and looked up at Whiskerstar again, excited for her first day of training. (( No muse, sorry. And it's fine, you actually wrote a good sized post I thought ))

As he stood waiting outside the camp he listened to the morning song of a dove somewhere nearby. If he hadn't been on duty to train an apprentice he would have begun to hunt the dove. Alas he was indeed on duty and in fact he was getting slightly annoyed with waiting. Luckily though SwanPaw emerged from the camp just before his fuse had burnt up. Before he can prepare himself he is attacked with an avalanche of questions pouring out of his apprentice's mouth. Deep in his head he couldn't help thinking that this apprentice may be more trouble than he initially thought. When she finally stopped asking questions she dropped into a rather bad hunting crouch but before WhiskerStar allowed himself to critique her he stopped himself. He knew that if the first he said was bad the rest of the training would be bad as well.
With a flick of his tail he signaled for her to stand back up straight. "Well in fact, we will be going on a tour of the territory but first I have something else in mind. Follow me." With that he turned and padded off into the forest hoping she had listened and followed him. Once he reached a nice soft ground area with some good wild life around him he turned to look at her. "I am going to give you your first assessment just to see where you are at with no training. Alright?"

The grey dappled she-cat got up from her stance, and continued to stare at Whiskerstar with admiration. Her ears perked up as he told her about what he had planned for them, and then proceeded to follow him into a small clearing. Sunlight poured through the tree leaves, casting a warm glow on their pelts. Swanpaw looked at the way the sunshine made her mentor's silver fur glisten, and decided that he looked handsome in this light. She smiled shyly and looked away, hoping she looked nice too. She hadn't had much time to groom this morning and her fur was clumped together and stuck up in odd places, but Swanpaw hadn't noticed. Her gaze returned to him upon hearing the words assessment and no training. Swanpaw shifted nervously from paw to paw. "What do I have to do?" she mewled, her voice full of worry. Swanpaw wanted to look good enough to be his apprentice, she didn't want him to doubt choosing her. What if he decides I'm not good enough? A thousand questions and scenarios flooded her mind, all ending with her being replaced and laughed at by the whole clan. "I should probably tell you now... I'm not very good at warrior stuff," the reality of these words hit her hard, and she felt like the air from her lungs had been knocked out. It's true, I'm not good at anything. Swanpaw wanted to be good enough for Whiskerstar, so she decided whatever the assessment was, she'd try her best. And that was all that mattered... Right?

WhiskerStar couldn't help feeling sad for his young apprentice. It was obvious she was terrified of failing him, but could he blame her? She had been given the hardest mentor an apprentice could have. WhiskerStar's thoughts drifted to his own training with his mentor OtterRain. She was just a warrior and he was concerned in letting her down, he couldn't begin to fathom how SwanPaw was feeling. He could only bet that her heart was beating faster than the current of the river. Shaking his head he purred softly, "Don't worry SwanPaw it is just to get an understanding about how you are. Don't worry about failing because you can't... at least not yet." He stiffed a short laugh before continuing. "To start I would like to see your best hunter's crouch. And remember if you don't get it right it's okay, this if your first day of training after all. We still have a long time to fix it up." With that he nodded swiftly then sat down in the shade of a willow tree to watch his apprentice.

The apprentice nodded slowly, listening intently to her leader's word. When he told her what to do, Swanpaw hesitated; trying to remember what the senior warriors look like when doing a hunting crouch. She couldn't get a clear picture, as she had only just left the nursery a few days ago. The she-cat dropped into a crouch, and looked up at Whiskerstar; her pastel green eyes full of uncertainty. After a moment, Swanpaw got back up and hoped that her hunting crouch was decent enough. It was the best she could do at this point.
